Family farming is one of the main pillars of the country’s socioeconomic development and an essential source of income in rural communities. Its sustainability depends on effective financial management that ensures proper planning and use of resources. This study aimed to analyze the financial management practices carried out by the Maniçoba rural community, located in the municipality of Alexandria-RN, through their actions in family farming. The research is applied in nature and descriptive in its objectives, with a quali-quantitative approach. From the perspective of technical procedures, it is characterized as field research conducted through semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and direct observations with ten farming families. The analysis was structured based on the PODC cycle (planning, organization, direction, and control). The results indicated intuitive practices and a lack of financial records, which hinder planning and the separation between personal and productive expenses. Nevertheless, some farmers demonstrated resilience by adopting adaptive strategies. The study highlights the need for financial management training and the implementation of public policies that promote the sustainability and socioeconomic strengthening of family farming.
