Abstract

The study aims to examine the implementation of good corporate governance practices recommended by the Brazilian Securities Exchange Commission (CVM) and the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance (IBGC) on four cooperatives focused in the milk business. The specific objective was to identify similarities and differences of corporate governance practices. Regarding methodological aspects it is a descriptive and field research. Data were collected through semi-structured questionnaires answered by controllers of these cooperatives. In conclusion it was noted that several aspects converge with what is known as good governance practice, but there are several aspects that diverge from these practices, which require cooperatives managers commitment to solve them.
